The Multi-Ethnic Church, Bryan Loritts

The Multi-Ethnic Church

A Sermon on Ephesians 2:11-22 (Trinity Evangelical Divinity School - April 9, 2013)

Brian Loritts makes a passionate appeal to Bible believing Christians to note not only the vertical dimension of the gospel, reconciliation between God and sinners, but also the horizontal dimension, reconciliation of all peoples in Christ. He notes both Paul’s practice and his teaching in the book of Ephesians, that he was thoroughly committed to seeing both Jews and Gentiles incorporated into the new—nothing of its kind had existed—phenomenon of the church. He laments the fact that the modern church in America is merely typical. The American church does not embody the radical unity that made the early church such a stunning validation of gospel power. He says, “multi-ethnic is a symptom of the gospel being lived out.” Evangelical pastors and leaders have the opportunity to affect change, to bring the kingdom—the heavenly vision of Revelation 7:9—to earth.
